Look for the item you want to give as a present, click on ‘Detail‘ of the item and then on the button ‘Make a gift‘
Now enter the exact username of your friend and add a message to him/her if you like, click on the button ‘Make a gift‘ and your friend will get a notification that you gave him/her a present.
